Background
Prince Aerion Targaryen was a member of House Targaryen, being the youngest son of Prince Baelon Targaryen and Princess Alyssa Targaryen. He is the younger brother of Prince Daemon Targaryen and King Viserys I Targaryen.Aerion was a proficient warrior and a highly skilled politician. He held the title of Master of Laws and wielded the Valyrian Steel blade Bloodseeker. A dragonrider who’s dragon was Vermithor, Aerion backed the Greens. During
the Dance of the Dragons, he was a prominent supporter of
Alicent Hightower and his nephew, Aegon II Targaryen.

Appearance and Character
Aerion possesses the classical Valyrian features: he has pale skin, silver-blond hair, and pale lilac eyes. Aerion's face was sculptured and held a silent strength in his striking features. In his early twenties, Aerion was tall, lean, and handsome.He was seen as wise, just, kind-hearted, self-confident, and charismatic. His temper would burn bright if provoked, but Aerion had the discipline to keep it in check.Aerion owned black plate armor, with the red three-headed dragon of House Targaryen adorning the breastplate.

Early Life
Aerion was born as the third son of Prince Baelon Targaryen and his sister-wife, Princess Alyssa Targaryen. He had two older brothers, Viserys and Daemon, as well as one younger twin brother, Aegon, who died in infancy. Aerion was adventurous in his youth, seeking knowledge and advancement within both books and warfare.

Reign of Viserys I
Aerion was an active member within his brother Viserys' court and regularly entered tourney's, most often falling short of victory at the hands of his older brother, Daemon.
Navigating the political intricacies of court came easy to Aerion, making many close friends and allies, the highest among them being the Hand of the King, Otto Hightower. Impressing both his brother, the King, and his closest advisors, Aerion was named to the small council and made Master of Laws. Aerion grew infatuated with Otto's daughter, Alicent, and openly courted her to win her affections. The two fell in love and received Otto's blessing to wed until the passing of Viserys' wife halted their plans. Even after, the two kept seeing each other in secret.With Alicent and Aerion remaining close, it was an unspoken fact in court that their feelings for each other had never faded. Many in the Red Keep also silently wondered who the true father of Alicent’s children was. No one ever dared question it publicly. .

When King Viserys I Targaryen died, Aerion was called to the small council chambers by Queen Alicent Hightower. Plans were brought forth to crown Alicent's son as Aegon II, instead of Princess Rhaenyra, who had been named Viserys's heir. Aerion reminded those who wanted to support Rhaenyra of the Great Council of 101 AC, and how King Jaehaerys chose Prince Viserys as his heir over Princess Rhaenys. Aerion also discussed the tradition wherein the rights of a trueborn son come before a daughter. When questioned about those not willing to bend the knee to Aegon II, Aerion responded that they would die as traitors.With Aerion siding with the Greens over his own blood and the Blacks, he was condemned by both Daemon and Rhaenyra as a traitor. Aerion simply wished to fight for the Greens so he could protect Alicent, the only love he ever knew. And for his children niece and nephews, Aegon, Aemond, Daeron, and Helaena.
